Pattern Direction - Railroaded & Up the Roll
A pattern’s direction may be described as "Railroaded" or "Up the Roll". This is commonly used when noting the direction of a stripe, but can be applied to other patterns as well.
A "railroaded" pattern will run horizontally, across the width of the fabric.
A "railroaded" pattern will run horizontally, across the width of the fabric.
A pattern running "up the roll" means the pattern/stripe runs vertically up the length of the fabric roll.
